THEME

DEVOTION TO THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS. The Fatima Children were told that the Sacred Heart of Jesus desires to be venerated with the Immaculate Heart of Mary; the Fatima Prayers exhort us to pray for the conversion of poor sinners through the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart.  Consider: the need for devotion and reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus; the great promise of the Nine First Fridays; Enthronement of the home to the Sacred Heart of Jesus; nocturnal hours of adoration and reparation.

First Meeting:

 

1.    THE INCREDIBLE CATHOLIC MASS: Review Chapter 3 – “The Mysteries of Holy Mass” (10 min. report; 10 min. discussion).  Reference: The Incredible Catholic Mass by Fr. Martin von Cochem.

 

2.   VIRTUES OF THE CHILDREN OF MARY: Review the ideals of virtue as proposed in The Manual of the Children of Mary, written in the not too distant past.  Note especially the difference between the moral values of the pre-Vatican II era compared with those of today's world (15 min. report; 10 min. discussion).  Reference: "Virtues of the Children of Mary" – Salve Maria Regina No. 138.

 

3.   THE COURT OF OUR HEAVENLY QUEEN: We cannot hope to dwell one day in the Heavenly Court of Our Immaculate Queen unless we strive diligently in the pursuit of holiness. The blessed who already dwell in Her Heavenly Court are inspirations for us in this pursuit of that life of holiness to which Jesus calls us. Read the following list of feasts, and choose 2-3 saints to reflect upon during this meeting: St. Erasmus, Holy Helper; St. Clotilde; St. Francis Caracciolo; St. Boniface; St. Norbert of Magdeburg (Xanten); St. Medard; and St. Margaret of Scotland (10 min. report & reflection; discuss briefly the lessons learned and virtues taught by their lives, and how to practically apply these virtues in our own daily lives).  Reference: Martyrology; “The Fourteen Holy Helpers”; (see links above).

 

Second Meeting:

 

1.   CATHOLIC LITURGY AND TRADITION: Discuss the historical origin of the Feast of Corpus Christi and the reason for instituting this beautiful festival honoring the Most Blessed Sacrament on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday.  Consider also the importance of making reparation to the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus; the significance of the “Fatima Prayers”, taught by the Angel of Portugal to the three little children, expressing the profound Mystery of the Blessed Eucharist; the importance of a fervent spiritual preparation for the reception of Holy Communion; the importance of spiritual Communions when unable to receive sacramentally; what is meant by living a truly "Eucharistic life", and how this is always evident in souls who are fervently living their Total Consecration to Mary (10 min. report; 10 min. discussion).  Reference: The Holy Eucharist by Liguori; The Blessed Eucharist by Mueller; article – “The Angel of Portugal”; article – “The Historical Origin of the Feast of Corpus Christi”.

 

2.   MARY IN DOCTRINE AND DEVOTION: Mater Divinae Gratiae – Mother of Divine Grace (June 9);  Our Lady of Fatima - June 13th Apparition; The Most Pure Heart of Mary (June 24) (10 min. report; 10 min. discussion).  Reference: Article on the June Apparition of Our Lady of Fatima.

 

3.   STRIVING FOR SANCTITY: As we continue the long Pentecost Season, let us consider the seven Gifts of the Holy Ghost, through which we bear spiritual fruit in our souls. Review the doctrinal definition of each of the Gifts, and then discuss what is meant by “cooperation” with them, i.e., the fervent practical application of our faculties of mind and body which is essential to an authentic operation of the power of the Holy Ghost in our souls. Finally, discuss each of the Fruits of the Holy Ghost which result from our diligent cooperation with His Gifts in our souls (15 min. report and discussion).  Reference: Pentecost Novena (introduction and daily reflections); Catechism lessons on the Gifts of the Holy Ghost.

 

Third Meeting:

Fourth Meeting:

 

1.    TRAIL OF THE SERPENT: Discuss the errors of the evolutionists as highlighted in the article “Cultural Devolution” (15 min. report; 10 min. discussion).  Reference: Salve Maria Regina No. 148.

 

2.    OUR MOTHER OF PERPETUAL HELP: Discuss this popular devotion and the Image enshrined in the Church of St. Alphonsus Maria Liguori in Rome.  Discuss the confidence we ought to have in the intercession of Our Blessed Mother (10 min. report; 10 min. discussion).  Reference: Article on the picture of Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Salve Maria Regina, Issue No. 112; appropriate sections from The Glories of Mary by St. Alphonsus Maria Liguori.

Cell Plan of Apostolic Action for June

 

v   Make an act of love and devotion to Our Immaculate Queen at every hour.

 

v   To promote the Message of Fatima   v   Sanctification of self, family, neighbor

 

v   Conversion of sinners, salvation of souls    v   Adoration, reparation, total consecration

 


v   Eucharistic all-night Vigil on First Friday-First Saturday of June.

v   Special observance of the important Feasts of June: Corpus Christi, the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Our Mother of Divine Grace, St. Anthony, Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Sts. Peter & Paul, etc. (consult Catholic Calendar).

v   Pray daily devotions and Litany of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus during June, the month of the Sacred Heart.

v   Family practice: Enthrone the Sacred Heart of Jesus as King of your home and family, with a special period of preparation for this important ceremony.  Each member of the family takes turns in having night adoration in the home in reparation to Our Lord's Sacred Heart.  If a priest presides over the ceremonies of the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart, he should be given an appropriate priestly stipend and, if possible, partake of a celebratory meal with the family.

v   Twenty-four hour Vigil of Reparation on June 13th, the anniversary of Our Lady's second apparition at Fatima; pray for the strengthening of Catholic family life; the spread of the Fatima Crusade and the growth of the Fatima Cell Movement; and for the perseverance of the remnant faithful still struggling to remain faithful to the doctrines and traditions of the One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church.

v   Pope Pius XII decreed the annual renewal of the consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on His Feast, the Friday after the Octave of Pentecost.  Distribute copies of the Promises of the Sacred Heart.  Adorn Our Lord's altar with flowers and candles.  Participate in the procession and ceremonies in honor of the Sacred Heart.  If this is not possible, then do so in your own home or neighborhood as a family or with all the families of the Cell together.

v   Personal Resolve: To make reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus this month, and to participate in nocturnal Vigils of Reparation, especially before the Blessed Sacrament.  In our love, respect, and true devotion to Our Divine Lord, to fervently imitate the virtues of the Sacred Heart, especially the virtues of humility, meekness, obedience, and fervent charity.

v      Make visits to hospitals and homes for the elderly.  Brighten up their day with spiritual encouragement; distribute Fatima pledges, brown scapulars, Miraculous Medals, Sacred Heart badges, and leaflets to those open to receiving and respectfully using these spiritual aids.  Explain to them the great value of offering their sufferings for the conversion of sinners and the salvation of souls.

    O Mary, my Mother, how greatly I love thee! And yet, how little is my love! Thou teachest me all that is necessary for me to know, because thou teachest me what Jesus is for me and what I ought to be for Jesus.
